Question about the exercise i have been doing

For the past few weeks I have been doing laps in the pool at my gym. I can go pretty much non-stop for at least 45 minutes if not more. I do get worn out and my heart is definitely pounding. Well my fiance has been doing the treadmill and he does it for the same amount of time I swim. Here is my question today I did the treadmill and after 15 minutes i was done! I have never been able to walk on a treadmill very long. I constantly stare at the time and get worn out so fast. So does that mean its probably a better excersie for me to be doing since its harder? Or should I just stick with the swimming since I can go so much longer? Just wondering what others thoughts were on this Thanks

Thanks

Amber

I'm 8 weeks today and all I do is swim. I'm going to work out today for first time and I'm taking someone with me.
I've had issues with my BP dropping and my heart rate going too high so I stick to swimming!
Maybe work your way up to more time on a treadmill.

I plan to go back to training mma once I can handle my heart rate! Will let you know how my gym time goes

The golden rule of exercise:

Do what you like, and you'll keep doing it.  Swimming is an excellent exercise.

I used to work with a personal trainer. I was great on the treadmill but horrible in the elliptical. She would make me try to up my time or speed on the elliptical and then let me get in the treadmill to finish out my time. Maybe you could do the treadmill of a bit and then swim?

I too hate hate hate the treadmill also watch the clock constantly.

Here is my thought on it. You are more apt to stick with an exercise you enjoy. You may like swimming better. The swimming also works your arms your shoulders as well as your legs, so it's a good exercise, it doesn't take the same toll on your joints either. So if you like it, do it!

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise you can do. I was a competitive swimmer for years and now that im 6 weeks out I fully intend to get back in the pool. You can swim longer because you don't have all the stress on your joints that you do on the treadmill or on land. You're also working almost every muscle in your body at ONE time, not having to switch to different machines to do your arms, your legs, etc. You still need to push yourself and make sure youre picking up speed. Keep up the good work!

I do lots of swimming. The thing I like best about it, is I dont sweat or get too hot! lol   Everyone has commented on how I have lost so evenly and I do not have any saggy baggy skin. I fully think its from the swimming as I am working everything at the same time.  I am all for it, and agree with the comments about it not being so jarring or hard on your joints or the rest of your body. I also swim for about 45 minute session. Not constantly as I do stop and tread water at times, or hang onto the edge and just kick when I need a break.

Thanks for the responses yall! I definately think im gonna stick with the swimming. I enjoy it so much more. I knew I was going to do the treadmill today partly because I forgot to wash my bathing suit but anyways knowing I was going to get on the treadmill had me dreading it all day. Now when I know im going to swim its a different story. I love it.
