How many used a shower chair?

I didn't need a shower chair either. I was also very weak when I came home and thought I'd be fine to take a shower. However I almost blacked out. Thank goodness I had my mom and dad visiting. I called them on my cell phone from the bathroom to bring me a chair to sit on after getting out of the shower. So my suggestion would be keep a phone nearby in case you need anything.

That too is a great suggestion.  I brought my phone into the bathroom once my husband went back to work.  You never know, epecially after surgery.  Like I said in my other post I would have been in trouble without it.  I also have a large master bath and had my wicker chair to sit in after I got out of the shower.  Thank goodness for chairs!!!!   Jane

Even after a number of OPEN surgeries, I have never needed a ahower chair.  Don't waste the money.

Now, for my knee replacement that was another matter.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I have had a handicapped shower for years , and I DID use my chair along with the handles. You may not be as stable as you think.

I especially used it month later when I was so weak in the mornings I couldn't shower without sitting and couldn't do my make-up without sitting..it was so frustrating !! then discovered my electrolytes were whacked and my PB was way to LOW in the mornings.

If you have access to one , it might come in handy for a day or two is all

I agree.  My blood pressure got very low (my PCP kept telling me I'd be on meds forever) and I got very lightheaded in the shower.  Couldn't wait to get out and sit on the toilet.  Finally went to the doctor, pressure was 70/52 - now off all meds.  Don't spend a lot of money but get something you can sit on if necessary,

Happy,

Isn't it frustrating when a doc says stuff like that , my pressure dropped when I stood up was 85/48 sometimes lower just out of the shower. I felt like crap...it was scary !!!

I keep a close eye on my pressure now , still have to take one med but it is to control my pulse rate 8-/ , unfortunately it's still a BP med.

glad you found out what the problem was !!
