Anither D3 question
D3 does not need to be taken with vitamin C. Maybe you are thinking of iron? Vitamin C enhances the absorption of iron.
How much D3 to take depends on your labs. What is your vitamin D level currently? Most post ops need at least 10,000 IU D3 a day to maintain a level of at least 80, which is what we need.

Personally, if my D was 40-something, I would take the 50,000 IU D3 from vitalady.com three or four times a week for a couple months, then get it tested again. I actually have to take 50,000 IU Dlk3 three times a week to keep my level around 100. But taking that three or four times a week should get you up to 80 in a month or two.

Sundown Perfect Iron is what I use. I like it because it's carbonyl iron, which is absorbed well and usually doesn't cause constipation.
Most iron supplements that have vitamin C in them don't have enough of it, anyway. You need 200 mg C for every 30 mg iron, to help with absorption.

Well I just got back from my 3 month surgeon appt. I asked if I could take vitamins in pill form now instead of chewables. He said I would ALWAYS have to take chewable because we didn't absorb the pill form well if at all. Multi, calcium and iron. He also said the celebrate chewable multi has 6,000 times the b12 in it so I don't need to take any b12 if I buy those. Well I didn't know what to say to that. Just said oh wow.....duh. I have lost 50 lbs since January 24th. He said that is not enough. I said I was logging in around 800 calories a day and he said obviously I was making errors in my logging of food. No way could I be eating that little and only losing 50 lbs. He just stood me down on that. All but called me a liar. All in all a miserable appointment. Any thoughts.........
Hmmm... well, I'm not sure what your doctor is basing some of his info on (and I find it appalling that he treated you that way!) At least I don;t feel so bad telling you that he doesn;t know what he is talking about. Clearly surgery is all he really knows about.
There is no reason that you cannot absorb normal vitamins and need chewables. MANY post-ops take all non-chewable vitamins with no problems at all. I would ask him specifically why he says that. If we cannot absorb the vitamins from a pill, how the hell do we absorb any of it from food?!?
Also, as far as the B12 is concerned, no matter how much is in the pill, your modified body doesn't have enough intrinsic factor to allow it to absorb the oral B12. You really need sublingual, injection, or (apparently) nasal spray.
Ignore your jackass of a doctor. Continue doing what you are doing and don;t let him make you feel bad.
