How much were you able to eat 2.5 months post op?

Just wondering.... sometimes i am able to eat a cup of food... some days not so much. My pouch is grouchy some days and doesn't really allow it. My plan does say though even for soft foods 1/2 cup-1 cup is allowed. What was everyone else eating for portion sizes around this time?

I can tell you how much varied upon what I was eating if I was having a dense protein such as chicken or pork I could eat way less then if I were eating like soup. I would say evrage at that point for me would have been about 1/2 cup of food.

I had a salad tonight and it had strips of turkey and ham strips i ate mostly all of those and a hard boiled egg plus a few of the veggies. All protein but still want to make sure i am not over eating unfortunately when i am out and about i am not measuring.. usually i will start to get bloated and stop or hiccups. I also had a bite of a chicken wrap and a bite of my protein bar. Tonight i did a omelet with tomatoes, cheese, and spinach and a few pieces of steak tips.. i ate almost a cup but not quite.

About 1/2 a cup most of the time.  It varied depending on what I was eating.  I think a cup would have been too much for most things.  I wasn't eating a cup at a time until at least six months out.

I'm 9 months out and eat 3/4 cup now. I haven't been able to make a cup yet. Hopefully will be there by a year out. Maybe that's why my protein levels are low, even though I'm getting over 110 grams every day.

I was getting in 2-2.5 oz at that point but I was only eating dense protein not slider protein like yogurt etc I'm sure if I was I could have got 1/2 cup of that in.

What you CAN eat and what you SHOULD eat may be different. If you are getting the needed protein at 1/2 cup, then why try for a full cup? I am coming up on 5 years and I don't think that I could eat a full cup of dense food even today. Something that is a slider, maybe!

Martha, my comment is similar in that a cup of dense protein is not possible for me today.  Does it ever concern you on how much surgeons are telling their patients to eat so early out?  Am I just an oddity in how much I could eat and the restriction I still have at 8 years out?

If you are an oddity then I am too! I can't even eat a whole slice of pizza at over 4 1/2 years out. Sometimes I can eat the slice but never the crust too.

Yes, it does concern me that patients don't seem know what I was taught. There seems to be (not necessarily this poster) that people want to eat as much as they are allowed. I had more of the thought process that I wanted to eat a little as I could that would give me the protein requirements that my plan required. I looked at it like calories were dollars and I wanted to come out under budget, not to spend every little last cent no. How that for an oddity?
