Before surgery I never had noticeably bad breath. Since surgery 6 weeks ago I have noticed that I can taste and smell my own bad breath, like halatosis bad.
Is this normal among us rny's ? Anyone else experienced this ?

It's probably ketosis which you want but can be unpleasant. I used sf mints when I knew I had to be around others.

It's ketosis from rapid weight loss. Sugar free mints help and in time it goes away. It's good in that it shows your body is doing what its supposed to--burning fat.

My doctor is not opposed to minty, sugar free gum. He said that he's never had anyone report an excess of gas by chewing gum and it helps with the breath that he refers to as 'dragon breath'. :)
