Wow, 10 weeks of needing narcotic pain medication?  If you were in such pain that you needed such strong medication, no wonder you were backed up!  Are you still on percocets?

How long had it been since you had a bowel movement?  I personally would not wait a week without one!  I eat a serving of prunes each evening to keep everything going the next day.

I imagine that this experience has brought its own lessons.

Yes i had it for surgery. Prescribed again, when i, got, admitted for what they thought was ulcers. Then again last, weekend, for leg pain they think, its a, disc or pinched nerve so, yes, I have, just, been prescribed it a lot.

I had one week early out where I thought I was going to die if I didn't 'go'.  Have had issues since; am now on a pill called "Linzess" (prescribed by my gastroenterologist), daily miralax and fiber con.  Go almost daily now.

My NUT swears by a shot of warm prune juice every evening.  Not sure if it works as I am still pre-op  but this makes me think I may try it!

Soo sorry your in pain.  Hope you get better

I had a very similar and terrible experience right after surgery as well. Did the hospital/enema thing, followed up by more meds at home for a few days after the hospital visit to get it all out! I feel for you!!

Now, if it has been 3 days and no movement, I take Milk Of Magnesia. I don't ever want to go through that again!!!

Be sure to stay on top of it! Good luck!
