I had my surgery on 4/8/13 and the day after surgery i threw up for a day and a half. Since I have been home, I have thrown up 4 times!! And its been only a month. I thought the first two times was because I was eating too fast. Then the next two times, I have tried eating slowly, but then i get this nasty discomfort in my stomach and the food comes back up. I am tried of throwing up!!!  I have called my doctor and he isn't  concerned. But to make me happy he did an upper GI test and it came back nothing was wrong. So what could be making me throw up so much????

Could be eating too fast or not chewing enough...........or just that the food isn't agreeing with you.  This isn't excessive.  Be careful not to eat too much (I'm five months out and can't always tell when I'm full).  It does get better.

One thing I've used if it's meat causing me discomfort;  papaya.  I bought some online (Puritan I think) and they work good to break down the meat if my pouch isn't doing it.

Hang in there.

This isn't particularly common although some do struggle. Are you measuring your food? Are you on any acid reduced? Some surgeons put patients on them to help prevent ulcers maybe you can ask your surgeon or get an OTC PPI. This may help (Prilosec, Zantac)

What are you eating when you are throwing up?

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

35 days since surgery three meals a day is 105 meals and you've thrown up four of those times. That isn't too excessive if you look at the number of times you haven't thrown up!

If you are eating slower and get discomfort and throw up you are probably eating more than your pouch can handle or you have a grouchy pouch like some do and it just doesn't like what you are feeding it.

Are you measuring your food? how much are you eating?

I saw you mentioned it was eggs sometimes, it seems a lot of people have issues with eggs, they just can't eat them for awhile. I have the issue with filet mignon, two bites and massive foamies and ugh! So I just don't eat it after trying it three times and having the same reaction even though they were months apart I know my pouch doesn't want it. If something makes you sick leave it alone for a month or two and try it again. Eventually you will have a short list of things you don't eat.
