Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

– 2 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org

Notice that Peter attributes Paul’s writings as Scripture, but also notice that Peter acknowledges that people can misunderstand and even distort Scripture. The role of Christian leaders is not to discover new truths that have never been seen before, but to guide us to live the truths in the Bible that are plainly written about. When we do this we enter into the wisdom of God.

Philippians 4;6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
