Why Does Everything Taste Gross

I'm almost five weeks post op and find everything tastes awful. It's become so difficult to eat or drink anything because it all tastes off. Will this go away? Just want to be able to eat "normally" again.

Hi Sylvie, my surgery was 4/4/13 and it is getting better.  Everything I liked before surgery tasted too sweet or too strong after surgery, skim milk is my best friend!  That said, I have noticed the last week it is getting better,

Yes, it goes away. Hang in there!!

Yes it will go away. You are probably in ketosis which throws off the taste of everything including water. However, ketosis is exactly what you want to be in, it means your burning fat.

That would be my guess, too!!

Hi Sylvie! We had surgery the same day, remember? Everything does taste weird and varies daily! How are you doing? The past 5 weeks have gone by so fast.

Hey there. Yes has gone quick. Back to work on the 27th. Lets just say, I don't feel great. I can eat anything but everything tastes yucky. After I eat I just feel kinda blah. Really hoping I feel normal soon. I have zero energy.  Trying to be patient as I know it'll get better soon. How are you doing? Hopefully really well.

I started work on the 16th which flowed nicely into the long weekend! LOL! I am doing ok. Still very tired and get worn out easily. Food is ok. I tolerate most things but have to eat very slowly. I think I am a slow loser, which doesn't surprise me. I am trying not to weigh myself to often. When I got on the scale a couple of weeks ago and had gone up 3lbs overnight, I retired my scale for awhile. Just trying to stick to the program and keep my eye on the prize.

hahaha.. I'm glad others have responded because i haven't had any taste issues.. Glad it will go away for people that have their tastes change...  What type of dog do you have? It looks almost like mine... I have a beagle/Spaniel Mix..

Lucky you not having taste issues.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that it does go away.  My girl Bella is a mutt. Her dad was a Pointer/Lab which you can't see in her at all except for her webbed feet :) her mom was a English Springer Spaniel/Border Collie which is totally what she looks like. Smart as a whip. Best dog I've ever had.
