The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.”

– Proverbs 4:7-9 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org

Socrates once said that the unexamined life is not worth living. Wisdom is usually gained as we stop and examine our lives and actions with the intention of understanding the significance of what we do. When we don’t stop and esteem wisdom, we can make mistakes that impact our lives with disastrous results. Wisdom is vital in growing as a person and it is hard to acquire, yet there is a blessing waiting for the person who searches earnestly for wisdom.

Philippians 4;6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
