What can be done after gastric bypass wears off?

What she means with wears off is the body is a smart vessel and the intestines regrow villa that you essentially didn't have in the portion of the intestines bypassed.  At around the 2 year mark (for some possibly before and others after) there is a high degree that malabsorption of food has ended.  YMMV

Once this happens the only thing we malabsorb is vitamins and minerals which we MUST take forever.  Yes you can continue to lose weight it just isn't as fast.

Wish I could go back to the 10 month mark!

I'll also chime in with HALA.  If you are still considered morbidly obese then a revision may be your best choice to lose 100 lbs.  You can watch your intake and exercise which is MUCH easier than before WLS; however, I can understand how difficult and overwhelming it can be to say "I need to lose 100 lbs".

Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Revision surgery gives me what options? DS? Anything else? I need to re-educate myself.  I had learned about the DS in the early stages of pre-surgery, my surgeon no longer offered it, gave me some explanation and pushed RNY in my case over the lap band ( smart choice on his part of course).

I have severe joint pain too. I have had several sports related injuries that have kept from being able to exercise like I was accustomed too. I was facing a hip replacement lastchristmasbut decided to play through the pain. Due to my age I would have ended up in a wheelchair before I was 50 without a hip socket. There ARE exercises you can do. Treadmills and elipticals are no good for people with joint pain. you NEED to find yourself a pool. Simply getting in the pool and walking is a tremendous form of exercise. But it is also very gentle because it cradles your joints and takes the weight off but it provides resistance that you need. You can also do arm exercises.

Sorry to hear of your pain.  The pool sounds like a great thing- I just can't overcome the embarrassment to do that.  I will take your advice and incorporate some exercise.  Anything is better than nothing.  It's just that the ache and pain without exercising act as a mental deterrent to actual physical exercising on purpose.  Thanks.

Gastric bypass doesn't wear off.  If you feel yours has, I would start by seeing a surgeon.  He can do an endoscopy to see if your pouch or stoma have stretched more than normal (which is very rare) and if so, discuss a revision with you.  However, your should still have a very small pouch.  You just need to follow your food plan.  No WLS will work if you are unable or unwilling to follow a reasonable food plan.

My pouch still works.  I agree regarding following a food plan.  I guess the excuse that I will make is that -if I could follow a food plan, I wouldn't have gotten myself into this mess to start with, and I suck at structured weight loss.  I do know that what I lose, I keep off.  I do know that I take my surgery seriously, and do everything I am supposed to do as far as vitamins, blood work, not drinking before or after meals, monitor my protein, no carbonated beverages, etc.  But, I have found that I crave sugar- something I could have done without prior to surgery.  I also admittedly graze on things like crackers.  I am a stress eater, something that I truly identified after surgery.  My thought is, if I can get off at least 100 ( preferably 130) I will maintain it, but I am too weak in the mind to fight this beast and lose it on my own. Does that make sense ( without bashing)? Thanks for your responses.
