This was the fist thing I asked my doctor about WHEN I could have. I am happy to say, I can easily eat some watermelon with no issues.

I am 6 weeks post op. :)

I had my RNY in Dec 2012 and am not allowed fruit yet, so I am not so sure about the watermelon. I am just starting a little bit of veggies. My dietician said that once I can get my protein in and still have a little room left-then I can start trying out veggies-no corn or peas, no anything with a hull like that. No celery-due to the string. So, I had a little bit of canned beets as they are soft enough. And my pouch was OK with it.

I LOVE WATERMELON!!!  One thing I did really early out is take chunks and freeze them. I put the frozen chuncks  in my Bullet and made a Watermelon Smoothie.   YEAH WATERMELON!!

If you like watermelon  you will LOVE the smoothie.  I sometimes add a little salt to it................This is my FAVORITE "sweet" drink.

Most people aren't bothered by the fruit in sugar, but for throw who are, watermelon may be problematic.  A cup has only about 50 calories but has 9g of sugar (and it is easy to eat a LOT if you're not careful since it chews down to nothing).  I love it, but the ones we have here aren't very sweet yet.  Too early in the season, I think.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Watermelon is the one thing that my stomach can't hold as much of as my mouth wants to eat.

I'm eating some right now!
