multivitamins from Family Dollar

In the US, the FFDA regulates vitamins (to an extent, anyway) and  in this country and the regulations are the same whether you purchase them at a dollar store, grocery store pharmacy, doctor's office, hospital, etc.  All brands are regulated the same way, too.  So the Centrum you buy at the dollar store must adhere to the same regulations as the Centrum you buy at CVS, and the dollar store brand must adhere to the same regulations as Centrum.

Now, that's the case in the US.  I don't know about in Canada.

So I called our Canadian gov there are regulations to a certain point yes. It doesn't claim that all  ingredients listed are in fact exact as per the companies claims. Only that the company states their product MAY include certain things. Also he said some ingredients may be from suppliers of non reputable sources. I asked simply how do I know which brand is best, his reply was its not what's 'best' and health Canada can't and does not prove a product ingredients for homeopathic/vitamin industry. His suggestion was to stay to reputable outlets like health, drug stores and stick with brand names.

I am not sure I agree with everything he said but I do agree the centrum you buy at one store has to be the same as one sold at a discount store. That is of course, if the product isnt a knock off, holy cow, that's a whole other story, lol see I am watching too much tv!!!

I think, and I might be mistaken, that in the US, vitamins are regulated as foods, not as drugs.  Which means the regulations are less stringent.

Honestly, I think the FDA is more about protecting companies that make money on drugs and vitamins, etc than about protecting consumers.

I'm  not sure which Centrum you have.  The Centrum (Adults under 50) has 18 mg iron.  Centrum Silver does not.  I just checked the Centrum website and I don't see any of their products labeled as "Centrum Complete" so I'm not sure which one you have.  They have some with iron, some without.

Most people end up needing more iron than what they would get in a typical multi anyway
