New pain- 3 days post op. help please

So I am 3days post op. getting liquids in. Passing gas and basically pooping though very watery. I have had a pulling pain on my right side since surgery. After waking up From my nap I have nausea and the pain on my right is much more intense and stabbing. I took my nausea mess and I basically sip walk and sleep. Normal healing? I've been trying to only use pain meds at night but that may change in a moment

Days 3-5 were pretty rough for me. If you have concerns, I'd call your surgeons office and just touch base. But for me once that anaesthesia settled into my chest and shoulders, I was in pain. It felt like someone was stabbing me below the ribs especially when I was moving after being stationary for a longer period of time. Walk, get up and move around and call your surgeon. It sounds like what mine was though.. pretty normal.

I needed pain meds most of first 3-4 days home. Are you laying flat for your nap? May be gas pain. I found heating pad helped. If pain increases, I would definitely call dr. Good luck!!

Thanks. I can only lay on my right side. Sometimes my left side for short periods but my back is a no go!

Thanks everyone I called the dr. It was the sudden change from pulling to intense stabbing. She said its normal that's usually the nerve branches trying to heal. She recommended I continue the pain mess every 4 hours for at least another day or two. Told me what the real concerns this close to surgery are. Was very nice and now I know I can get ahold of someone so that's nice. Now an hour out from pain meds some heat and moving and I'm feeling a little better. Sooooo I guess that counts as my first newbie freak out

My 4th and 5th days were the worst, but still don't sound as bad as yours. You may want to call your surgeon and check in, surely they have a service and someone from the practice on call.

HW333--SW 289--GW of 160 5' 11" woman. I only know the way I know & when you ask for input/advice, you'll get the way I've been successful through my surgeon & nutritionist. Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Thanks I called they said its pretty normal. Usually people go home with an on Q pump till day 5. Mine was leaking really bad so they took it out before I left the hospital on day 2. She said that has some to do with it.
