Surgery moved

My patient navigator at the surgeons office called me today. My surgery was scheduled for Monday the 24th, they said someone canceled their surgery and they have a spot open for Thursday as in the day after tomorrow! After talking with my brother who is going to be there with me the day of surgery and making sure it fit in with his schedule I changed the date! I am now on full freak out mode! I think it is a good thing moving the surgery up but it also is scary that everything I thought I had 5 days to do I now have 1 day to do!

If I remember from other members less is more to bring to the hospital, Chap stick, phone and charger, clothes (I plan on wearing home what I came in) personal items (toothbrush, deodorant) anything else I should bring?

Slippers and a robe so your behind doesn't hang out while you're up walking

My hospital provided footie socks with grippers so I didn't need my slippers.  I am 8 days post op and didn't need anything but my phone and toiletries.  Good luck and god bless!

I am guessing you did not have to be on the liquid diet for two weeks prior. Don't worry--you'll do great. If you forget anything, someone can get it for you at home or buy it for you. One day or two in the hospital there isn't anything you can't live without. :)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, well I guess now it will be just 11 days. I learned in my pre-op class my surgeons office does a program where everyone gets a Bari-Buddy which is a teddy bear and I thought that was a super sweet program to do!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Yay!

My surgery is on the 25th. They wanted to move it to the 17th but my mother couldn't get here until the 24th. I told them to give it to some other lucky person.

I have pre-op tomorrow. I don't think my program gives out Bari-Buddies. I'll laugh if they do, because I bought one a couple of months ago. Most of my friends and family are out of state so I sent his shirt around so they could sign it. Now they will all be in the hospital with me

Has any of women had their period during their hospital stay? I didn't even consider asking about that. I just started mine earlier this week.

I got mine right before. No big deal. Tell the nurse when you sign in and they will give you disposable underwear and a pad for the surgery... bring supplies for after cause the hospital pads are ridiculous!
