I dicided to weigh myself today since i was feeling much better. I'm shocked to not have lost not one lbs in fact 3 days post op i gained 5lbs. Is that normal . It's quite disappointing after all the pain ive ben going through and walking to get rid of gas, drinking lots of water and working so hard. I was less before surgery. My husband says its all the fluids they have been pumping in at the hospital.  Is he right?

Yes your husband is correct. From all the fluids they give you in the hospital you do gain weight. I've read people gaining up to 15lbs. I'm not sure exactly how much I gained. I didn't step on the scale until my first post op appointment 11 days after. I was only down like 2-3lbs from what I weighed the morning of surgery but again, not sure how much I put on while I was actually in the hospital. My best advice to you, and I'm sure most will agree, stay off the scale for a while. It really will drive you crazy. Also, if you can, take your measurements. At about 3 weeks post op it's quite common to hit a mini stall for a week. It's just your body adjusting... so don't be surprised if that happens to. :) However, even though the scale may not be moving, you're still losing inches so I highly recommend taking your measurements like once a month. It's pretty incredible to jus****ch the numbers melt away. Pictures help a lot too, especially when you put them side by side.

Good luck and welcome to the losers bench!

Ok thanks ! I am starting to feel better and i hope to get out this evening to walk a bit. I'm still very tender around the abdomen. I'm working on drinking the water and getting the most i can in, I'm also on my period turns out i started it the day after my op. Thank you ladies for posting a reply for me. I'm feeling lots better and will be measuring from now on. Blessings to you all

I also am not taking the loritab instead taking tylenol when i need it. The loritab was knocking me out cold.

I don't know it would be possible NOT to find any posts about the week three stall because someone posts about it here every single week of every single month of every single year!  Try searching again on "week three stall".  There are HUNDREDS of posts about it.

Yes. Around 2-4 weeks. There's usually a post about it every few days. It's just your body adjusting. It's kind of like whoa I just went through this whole big ordeal (surgery) I need a moment to recoup. Just stick to your surgeons plan and staaaaayyy off the scale or you will go nuts! Like I mentioned to the original poster take your measurements like once a month and take note to your clothing too and how it fits. You'll hit a few stalls along the way (I was fluctuating up and down 5lbs for a month up until about a week ago when the scale jumped again). This early out just follow your plan, get your fluids and protein, walk as much as you can and stay off the scale!!!

See! Look for things like that. You will lose the weight. Stick to your plan. Focus on your fluids, protein and walking. Stay off the scale for a while. I know it's hard. We've all been there! You'll notice all the little things like being able to cross your legs comfortably or going out to a restaurant for the first time (down the road) and fitting in the booth comfortably. Little victories you don't even think of until it happens.

How do I search on here to read about the stalls and how to overcome them?
