My rny was march 5th I have only lost 48lbs so far but 104lbs pre-op my goal weight at 5'7 I would like to be 150. I have 99lbs left to lose. What is the likelihood I can reach that goal?

There is a weight loss estimator here on OH at: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op +planner.php You enter your starting weight, your height and how much of your excess weight you want to lose. I put in 100%, then it tells you how much the ESTIMATED weight loss each month may be. It will be different for everyone and nobody can really tell you. Some people have a number of pounds each month that they tell you, but that doesn't account for starting off with a lot to lose or those that don't have much to lose.

You lost a very large amount pre-op so you may not initially see the huge numbers that some do. My surgeon told me that I could expect an average of 2-3 pounds a week. At first I almost cried! As it turned out, that is exactly what I lost. If that were the same estimate for you, you might just be at your goal by your first year. Part of that is to follow your plan, drink enough fluids and exercise.

You can do it!!!

This really is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions.   I think it's highly likely you will lose enough weight to be happy - whether it's your arbitary "goal weight" of 150lbs - who knows?

I lost 120lbs in six months and I was a lightweight (40 BMI) but then I had no pre-op diet, was on a food only regime, was only MO for 11 months after a pregnancy, worked out like a fiend and really stuck to a rigid healthy food diet - foregoing all the "treats" I see people slipping in after a month or two ...   I had an odd treat once I reached maintenance but not before!    I realised that rapid weight loss it a one time deal ...

I do think your goal is within your reach - you just have to be willing to work for it!

My average weight loss for the first year was 2&a half pounds per week. For me I slow down and stop losing because I forgot the maintenance diet. I think that if you follow the menu plan and exercise you can reach your goals.

Our surgery was the same day I've lost 58 since day of surgery. Surgeon told me today he expects 30-40 over the next three months.

I don't look at the estimates things because let's be realistic we all lose at different rates.

He just said now is the honeymoon phase and to work out work out work out
