Has anyone tried rice noodles in place of pasta? I am 9 weeks out, tried rigatoni, only one pain all night, so I bought thin rice noodles, so I thought give it a try, also bought glue ten free Quiana's pasta, anyone try this. I thought this may be a go, anyone have any experience with these? Much appreciated any feedback.

I'm wondering why you would try eating a carb especially this early out? I'm 20 weeks out & won't go near them. You should be focusing on protein not carbs.

I was eating snippets of carbs at that point...my dietitian wanted me to introduce small amounts.  I had a hard time finding anything that agreed with me tho.

I would personally stay away from pasta and rice. Although my nutritionist does encourage eating some carbs every day. I think the recommendations vary from clinic to clinic.

I love rice noodles! They are a great alternative to regular pasta I see a lot of people on here boycott carb foods after surgery (like pasta, rice, bread, etc.) but I never had those intentions. I had this surgery to help me lose weight & to learn to eat like a "normal" person-this includes these items in moderation. My nutritionist agrees

A noodle is a noodle, unless you're gluten free. I've heard that quinoa is a much better choice. A lot of people use spaghetti squash, but while it's really mild and takes the flavor of the sauce, it's not pasta no matter how much you pretend. I haven't tried quinoa yet, but there are plenty of recipes floating around on the internet. I'm not sure I would personally eat pasta when it's allowed. Bread and pasta were huge problems for me. I'm afraid to start on that slippery slope.

I am two months out and my plan says I can have 1/4 cup pasta or rice. I am too scared to try it. I am a carb junkie and havent had any since 2 weeks before surgery. When I make pasta for my family I roast either eggplant or zucchini slices and then put my sauce on that. Super yummy!

Haven't tried pasta or rice but everyone s drs are different.. mine stress protien then a carb since I started soft foods ... my son has been eating rice since he was in pureed stage...I haven't asked him about pasta and hes 9 months out of sleeve.... he was a weight lifter so he ate protien s and carbs but weight gain was from an illness and meds...I'm about 6 weeks and just now trying non blah food.I hate the thought of getting sick. We are all different. To each his or her own when it comes to what to eat. Its about CHOICES and some can consume what others can't. Guess only way to find out is to try... I made my own spaghetti sauce and ate it about 6 xs a year so I wouldn't have it as a problem if I end up being able to eat pasta. Good luck and I hate rice noodles! Tried them a long time ago! But u may like them!
