Let's be HONEST. How far post-op were you before trying alcohol?
About 11 months, I think. I don't drink much, even now. I worry about my organs because I think it affects us so much more post-op. I may have a drink 2-3 times a year, but not any more than that. It hits me hard, but I get over it pretty quickly.

Clearly I am the rebel/wild girl on here ... I was about 6 weeks out!
I am mainly a red wine drinker, am a very cheap date (great buzz on one glass) but have never had a problem with any cross addictions because I don't believe I have or have ever had any psychological/emotional attachment to food, which probably makes me an exception rather than a rule on here.
For this reason, I would NOT recommend anyone follow my example.

My surgeon's recommendation was actually 6 weeks out, so you're okay in my book, Kim! Haha.
I waited until about 2.5 months out, and I would only have vodka and water with some Mio in it. Then at about 5 months I tried wine. Alcohol hits me fast after half a drink. I honestly don't feel that much different than before surgery. I was a "lightweight" then, too. When I drink, I just make sure that it's something that's worth it in calories to me.
I am 7 months out and plan on having my share of alcohol this weekend, as I'm going to the Hodag Country Festival in Wisconsin! Save a horse, ride a cowboy!
A couple of months. I tried it at home first because I knew I would be going to a social outing later on that week where this may come into play. I found out that it didn't hit me hard like I was expecting. But now if I do drink I do not drive home. I don't want to take the chance that I "feel" sober therefore I should be OK to drive.
