Let's be HONEST. How far post-op were you before trying alcohol?
I have always been a hyper/high strung goof and keep a natural buzz of laughter 24-7 ... post-op alcohol makes me drowsy zzzzzzzzzz... but I enjoy sipping a chilled Chardonnay and I can make a Corona last all night long when I am out with friends ... we do happy hour get together with my friends and peers at least once a month and I have this awesome group called 'oldies keeping the flame going' that my DH and I belong to ... we go on outings... trips... dancing... night outs together and have tons of fun... my DH does not drink since before his kidney transplant and I enjoy chilled wine or Coronas.... I believe I waited until about 2 years out by choice.... this picture was taken on a night out with my co-workers .. we were at Texas Roadhouse and I was enjoying a corona ... at the end of dinner there was more than half a bottle of corona left LOL....

haha great pic u look very relaxed!
Before surgery I truly enjoyed a cold Corona light with a wedge of lime in it from time to time. So I had my first taste of one last week-end and it was yum! Taste is about it because I am on medications that you have to be very careful not to mix due to enhancement of the drug. Well, I don't need that as she said she is a natural goof by nature such as I!!! But I was raised to enjoy alcohol with foods as we lived in Europe when i was young, and drinking over there compared to the U.S. is totally different.
If we have steak for dinner, I will admit I will take a sip or 2 of wine with the meal because it enhances my taste buds. No we are not talking about even a 1/4 of a glass I mean literally around 3 or 4 sips. That is the only time I consume any liquid with a meal.
One thing I truly miss after a fine dinner is a snifter of Grand Marnier with a cup of coffee on the side. Someday I will have this after dinner but it has alot of sugar so I have to be careful. Jane
Yes, I did--no judgment, I just didn't want a drink (not much of a drinker for a long time). Anyway, I had two sips of red wine, which used to be my drink of choice. I immediately felt dizzy, so that was it for red wine for me. I have once in awhile had a small sip of beer, but that's it for my alcohol consumption.
I fight badgers with spoons.

I had my surgery May 2nd and had alcohol at the end of May. I have had drinks beyond that- but not all the time. I probably have a drink twice a week. I try not to when I can. I'm 25 and my social life sort of revolves around happy hour and I haven't really told any of my friends about the surgery. If I didn't order a drink, they would ask questions because it's not like me to not order a drink. Lame excuse, I know, but I want to avoid all questions about my weight with them. I usually don't finish a full drink.
PS: I've found that alcohol does not affect me any differently. I don't get drunk faster and I don't feel tipsy after just a couple sips. The only thing that's changed is that I sober up quicker.
