Four years out, following the rules, and gaining weight I can't get rid of

I'm with you on the poochy belly thing. I have acquired one of my own and you'd think I've regained 50lbs by how insane it's making me. My pants are a little tight but it's not like I've even gone up a whole size. Everyone looks at me like I'm nuts when I mention my belly leaves me feeling 6 months pregnant so I guess I'm the only one that notices. (I'm convinced it's the beginning of the end and I'm going to regain everything from this point on... )

In the face of your diet and exercise routine being what it is, I'd have to suggest testing hormones and thyroid. Mine are abnormal and that's probably what brought on the belly for me. I am not even menopausal but hormones don't care. Dr. John Lee has some good information on estrogen dominance/progesterone deficiency and Mary Shomon has good information on thyroid disease. Both of them have comprehensive symptom checklists and online quizzes. I was a little surprised when I scored severe on both, which prompted me doing tests. Some symptoms I've had for awhile and chalked it up to other things.

Are you actually weighing and measuring your food? Sometimes we forget what a serving looks like. Try upping your calories like others have suggested, but you may need to go lower. Aging sucks

Pat,

If you are following SparkPeople you are probably eating too much. As hard as it is to believe the maintenance diet for RNY is about 1200 calories. My Dr and NUT gave me a plan which ranges between 700 and 900 calories for weight lost. If I followed SparkPeople I would be eating 3000 calories according to them to maintain. When I do that I gain weight. I'd recommned continuing to journal, measure your food and set up a time to see a NUT knowledgable in WLS.
