I am 4.5 months out and I know I should expect this it has happened a few times but it always sucks! Last week I had close to a 5 lb loss and now this week I have gained 3lbs or so been stuck over a week now. I have increased my water and exercise a lot compared to what I was doing practically immobile. Walking the beach, boardwalk, swimming, etc. I also have been spotting on and off the last 2 weeks or so. I've eaten out a couple times but healthy choices and protein first. It impossible to gain weight this early out right? I just hate when some weeks I lose nothing it's then I wonder what I am doing wrong.

Try not weighing yourself so often... The scale messes with your head. A body fluctuates, it's normal. Give it a couple weeks before you weigh again. As long as you are following your surgeons plan you should be good. Best of luck.

You aren't doing anything wrong.  The body has normal weight fluctuations because of water retention (or a full intestine, even) and some weeks you are going to lose more than other and some weeks you wont lose anything at all.

Yes, it is practically impossible for you to gain actual fat at 4.5 months out.  You would have to eat about 3500 EXTRA calories to gain a single pound of fat!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Your weight gain might be due to your hormones, since you mentioned you were spotting twice.
