Yep, having items removed from your body is much less internally traumatic than having your stomach separated into two pieces and your intestines rearranged!  The open incision hurts more than the small lap ones, though... But at least you can SEE (and understand) why it hurts so much.

I was in so much pain I couldn't even imagine getting on the internet to post. I was on oxygen for a month post op too. It's all a distant memory now!

My surgery was 6/18. I have always had a high tolerance for pain and I was shocked by the amount of pain I had after surgery. My husband was constantly asking if I was ok. My kids who are all older 25, 21 and 17 pretty much stayed away from me because they could not stand to see me in so much pain. I am happy to report that I am now 3 weeks out and things are SOOO much better! I will every once in awhile get a pain or two but nothing major. Chin up - you will be feeling better very very soon.
