Nausea and pain
I seem to get that pain right in the middle of my abdomen (maybe a tad higher), but not from drinking, I get it if I push myself too hard (like cleaning up or something). But the nausea comes for me also right after & I have to quickly go lay down in the A.C.

Stop drinking protein shakes if they are making you sick. Wait until your body heals more and then introduce them slowly. LIfe is too short to drink awful tasting protein shakes. Try different flavor and combinations until you find something that you like and that agrees with you.

I am drinking broth and eating jello and popscicles but I'm supposed to get My protein in also. Dr said at least 60-100 grams and it is killing me trying to choke this stuff down. I could drink the heck out of them before surgery. I mix them with ice water and a tiny bit of silk unsweetened soy milk which has less than one gram of sugar. One scoop of protein has 2 grams of sugar. So idk!! I thought it was because I concentrated it alot more than I usually do and made it into 4 ozs so today I made it into 10 ozs like I did before surgery, it was easier to get down but still same after effects. I spoke with my nurse and all she could suggest was taking my nausea suppositories before I drink them instead of after I'm already sick. :-/ help!
I couldn't do the protein shakes at all at (still can't sometimes). What saved me was Unjury Chicken Broth !! I was so hungry that I was making myself nauseous.... and the thought of sweet shakes made me wanna hurl. The salty, savory soup saved me lol. Now that I'm not so nauseous, The syntrax nectar chocolate truffle is really good (even if I have to mix a little s.f. choc pudding mix in with it lol)

It could be the cold that is bothering you. I used to love my shakes blended with ice and now I make them and let it sit for 10 mins to warm up before I can drink it...and no ice. I was having a problem drinking 3 shakes a day. I can have one in the morning fine, then the second one I literally choke down. I contacted my nutritionist and she said to eat more off the "other foods" list than one meal to make up the protein. For me that's cottage cheese (no), sf pudding, cream soups (lf), scrambled egg beaters. I saw the surgeon today for a different issue and he said to advance to stage 4 but stay with the soft stuff for now. Contact your nutritionist and see what they have to say. Also ask your surgeon. I think advancing your diet a bit is better than not getting in your protein. Good luck .
