Ok. As most of you know I'm 6 days out.

All of my incisions are healing great except the largest one  has been hurting like crazy! I assumed its because its the biggest one and it gets moved around alot. My mom is a nurse so I let her look at it this morning to check for infection, but I have no signs. I was at her house this evening and the pain just kept getting worse so she looked at it again and there's a knot or a hard lump under it. She mentioned a hernia and I've felt it also and there is definitely a lump that is very very tender. And opinions? What should I do? Thanks in advance for bothering you guys again!

YOUR NEVER a bother! :) that's what we are all here for!!  Does your surgeon have an after hour number that you can call?  Have you thought about going to the ER...sorry if these seem like dumb, or duh-uh suggestions...just want to help =)

I called the on call dr but it wasn't a bariatrics dr. He told me it sounded like a seroma which is just a fluid filled sac that had built up.  Not usually a complainer but this hurtss bad!!

Just had a laproscopic surgery and I have the same thing.  It's from the work that was done through that main incision and just needs time to heal.as long as it is not red, hot or oozing *****ou are ok.  Now if the pain does get worse get to the ER ASAP.  When you are able to take vitamins, I suggest CoQ10 to help with healing and elasticity.

bumps are common.  if you can apply pressure to the incision, push down and do the cough test.  If you cough and feel something kind of bubble or push out then hernia might be the problem.  Either way, give the doctor a call.  Only he will know for sure whether there is a problem or not.

In my opinion, it never hurts to call the doctor.  I had a hernia 11 days after my surgery and then had to have scar tissue removed 2 months later due to severe pain.  Not the norm, but it happened.  The doctors have probably seen it all....best to check with them.  Good luck.

Are we talking about the one at your belly button?  Not only is that probably the biggest, you have a lot of nerves there.  It was easily the most painful for me and was still tender after I had all but forgotten about the others.

I had a significant lump that grew around the two week mark.  I suffered in silence for about a week and when I felt worse in week 3 than I did in week 2, I called the dr.  Turns out I had torn stitches!  My hubby had the beginnings of a know and dr told him it was scar tissue.  Best bet is call  the dr...
