One of the best NSVs I could ever hope for

So I am 11 days post op and I had a NSV right out of the hospital. I was able to come home the day after surgery off my insulin. My surgeon  thinks I'll probably stay off it even when I'm starting on solids.  This is what I was hoping for.  I can't even tell you how it feels to not be taking 5 shots a day. I was also on 1000mg metformin twice a day, but I'm only taking 500mg twice a day now.

Oh, and today I was able to wear a top that has been hanging in my closet for the past several years because it's been too tight. Loving my RNY!!

Soooooooooo envious! I'm 11 months out and still needing to take my glimeperide. I keep waiting for the day when I won't have to take it anymore!

The last day that I took metformin was June 22, and I had surgery on June 25. My bg has been in the 80s-90s since then. I know of at least one person here who still has to take pills. I've heard that it may come back. You only have so many islet cells, after all.

Thanks, guys! It IS a great feeling. And it could very well come back, but I'll take my victories where I can get them and work hard to keep my blood sugars in chec****il then!
