Help! I need some motivation...be nice, mean, insult me...something!!! Get me off my...
Sometimes - a lot of times for me, actually - getting started is the hard part. If I can get myself dressed and out the door for a walk, I can usually walk a while. It's getting out the door that's hard. Start with just getting into the gym. You can build up to more time later.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Slap on some earbuds, put on some crazy music, and GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR!! You KNOW you want to!
And listen....no one here has to tell you HOW AWESOME you're going to feel when you hit Onederland, right??
YOU DESERVE THIS.
Let me just say that again, so I'm sure you get it:
YOU. DESERVE. THIS.
Now off you go. ;)

Janet, you got to do an exercise that you like to do.Something you look forward to doing and will put other things aside to do that exercise. If going to the gym is not that much fun for you then find something else that will be fun for you. Golf, Tennis, Roller Skating, or a thousand other things that are fun. I like to swim and it is fun for me, and I look forward to going there and when I am done, i had fun and I feel so much better. You just have to find something that you like to do. Maybe go to the gym same days than do another exercise on other days. You can do this but it should be an activity that you love and want to do for the rest of your life. but a word of caution. As you get older you are going to have to find activities that don't stress your body to much or you will be having a lot of surgeries on your legs. I love to run, but at my age now it is way to painful. Good luck.

I used to LOVE riding a bike. I was working at the gym on the exercycle to get into shape to ride my bike. I took my bike to get it safety checked and new tires, got a bike rack for my car, and am ready to go. Just a matter of getting myself in shape enough to ride for any distance other than just up and down my street.
My ultimate goal is to...maybe...ride in some sort of charity ride? I'm getting older, so it may not be possible, but we'll see.
Thank you for your words of wisdom!
Janet
Just get up and go sista! I run 3-4 times a week and half the time I have to give myself a mental shot of Geritol and a mental shove to get myself up and out of bed and on the go ... once I start the feeling is awesome and exhilarating ... I go to Bikran this evening ... I am already making excuses but I will point my car in the direction and get myself in that hot room because I know it feels so good after and takes the kinks out of my old fart arse .... it is all good ... the only way to start is just STARTING!!!! you can do this ... wishing you continued strength on your journey...
