I think we have to look at going to the gym as time to ourselves and enjoy it. Not taking care of anyone other then yourself at that time. Maybe if you have a mall in your area go walk around and see something that you want to fit into and that may give you a boost.
I have always liked Larry's posts and he "hit the nail on the head" again today. I love to swim and look forward to it. I like to shop-- granted it's not considered a workout by any means, but it gets me out of the house and m-o-v-i-n-g. When I feel like staying home, I can clean for so long, I lose track of time. Make a list of things you LOVE to do that requires energy and pick a different one every day. And then DANCE like no one's watching when you enter onederland.
Yes, he is so right! Funny that you mention dancing, because I like to dance, but have NO rhythm what-so-ever! I was just talking with my daughter about getting a Wii dance program so that I can dance in the living room and not have to worry about anyone seeing. lol My daughter is a wonderful dancer, doing all sorts of dance, but loving ballet...so, she certainly didn't inherit my lack of skills.
I will have to make a list. There may be things that I've forgotten about myself over time.
Thank you,
Janet

I have to admit that I haven't found something (yet) that I absolutely love. Cardio is a bore, but it gives me a chance to catch the early morning news, which I like. Weight training is actually not bad, and I can get into the zone with it. For me, it helps to go to the gym first thing in the morning; otherwise, it was too easy to find excuses. I can remember only two occasions, in all of the years that I've gone to the gym, that I really enjoyed it--a hot shower afterwards is still the best part :D
I, too, enjoy the shower afterwards. I do enjoy the bike...riding may be the one thing at the gym that I do enjoy. It's funny when people, including my PCP, tell me to find something that I LOVE to do...the first thing that comes to my mind is cooking! I have always enjoyed cooking, but there's no exercise involved. I told my PCP and he just shook his head. lol The bike is probably my poison of choice.
Thank you much,
Janet
