What multi- vitamin do you take??
My doctor's office recommends chewable Centrum with iron. I am not sure if this will change later as I am in the first month after surgery.

I never used a chewable, I was able to swallow pills the next day.
I take 2 Centrum Silver a day. 1 in the am and 1 in late afternoon. They are smaller than the usual ones.
Be careful about choosing those gel chewables, they have a lot of unnecessary sugar that could make you dump.
Dont spend a bunch of money on something right now. Things that dont make you nauseous now may do so after surgery. It's wierd how that happens with some stuff.

I use Costco brand prenatal vitamins. I crushed them the first two weeks, then broke them in half for a couple, now I take them whole. These were recommended by my centre as they are complete with all we need (including iron) and we only need one per day. Very inexpensive as well.
How much iron is in one of them? Menstruating women need 54 to 63 mg iron a day and everyone else needs at least 36 mg (according to the ASMBS) and I've never seen a multi with that much iron in just one pill.
And just one of them has 200% of the RDA of other stuff? Like they have 10,000 IU vitamin A in just one of them? I've never seen a multi with that much A, either.
I tried to look up the label info online but couldn't find it, so I'd appreciate it if you could share it.

I will take a photo of the label and try to load it. Not sure about the vit A etc.
Your amazing! Thank you! I trust my nutritionist but of course your knowledge is one I look for guidance as well. As soon as I get home I will snap a photo and load it.

Oh, I'm not saying your nutritionist is wrong. I just haven't seen a vitamin with as much iron and stuff as we need in one pill so I was curious. People ask for such a vitamin all the time and if there's one out there that has that and I wasn't aware of it, I'd like to know.

Well, according to the ASMBS guidelines, that does not have everything we need. For instance, they say we need at least 36 mg iron and that only has 27 mg. They say we need 10,000 IU vitamin A and that only has 1000 IU (the 2500 IU beta carotene we can't absorb, and even if we could, that would only be 3500 IU when we need 10,000).

Thank you Kelly, I will bring this to my centre and show my surgeon as well. They need to follow minimum guidelines. So it looks like I will need to up my daily dose? Two times per day? Thoughts?
Thanks so much again Kelly
