Heartburn!!

Is severe heartburn normal shortly after surgery? I've been taking protonix for 3 days but idk if it has had time to take effect yet. No matter what/if I eat i get it. 

Normally the surgery resolves reflux, but it caused mine. I was taking Prilosec for a month per my Dr's instructions and I was fine. After I quit taking it I started having issues. So now I take it all the time. 

RNY is suppose to be the best choice to prevent reflux although I'm seeing more discuss having symptoms lately.

Have you been scoped. It's possible you may have a marginal ulcer that needs to be taken care of. See if your surgeon will scope you or prescribe you Carafate to take with the Protonix.
