I'm 7 weeks out and at my 6 weeks follow up  my surgeon just said i could add chicken and pork. I am so tired of meat and nothing else. I long for a more variety or a little veggies or fruit to eat. As it is eating is such a boring tasteless experience. I am worried i will not be able to enjoy food again. How long does it take to get to a more balanced diet? I don't enjoy much food lately and feeling depressed and tired. Please tell me this will change soon:(

You're eating meat and nothing else?  How come?  I don't know what your doctor's meal plan is so I don't know when he recommends adding fruits and vegetables, but I was allowed to add those when I was on pureed foods (as long as I pureed them, of course).  Does your surgeon recommend eating no fruits and veggies at seven weeks out?  What about dairy products, like cheese and yogurt?  What about beans?  Surely his meal plan isn't only meat and nothing else for seven weeks?

Well she told me only meat and scolded me when i asked about adding a few veggies. I do have yogurt and beans were good to me at first but now they taste yucky. Food is just so tasteless. i hadn't thought about making a veggie sauce i can add to the meat or fi****hink ill call my Nutritionist today to get a better idea what i am allowed. Thank you for your response. I think i may be a little depressed. I may call the Psychologist too. I worry i will not enjoy food again. I have lost 30 lbs so far in 7 weeks and i am glad to be feeling better just would like more variety.

Are dairy products allowed, such as cheese, Greek yogurt, or cottage cheese? What about some hummus? Especially if home-made, so you know exactly what is in it? Chickpeas are a pretty good source of protein, and you don't need much tahini. Eggs? Fish?

What about refried beans & cheese?  And chili -`Wendy's chili is excellent and makes for a nice change.  You could eat the filling (not the tortilla) out of a burrito - the spices jazz it up.

Do you use any seasonings on  your meat? I use Greek dressing on cold chicken.
