Is bread/pasta out for anyone else?

After trying several breads including while wheat sandwich thins toasted and today a smart ones pizza on a flatbread I have gotten violently ill. I am dumping on breads!!! Severe stomach pain, nausea, sweating, stomach cramps/diarrhea, and fatigue. I thought I could eat breads in small quantities and I can't. Pasta is the same way including whole wheat makes me sick. Rice also makes me sick, even quinoa too I think it's the carbs. Anyone else have problems with these items? I am 5 months post op and now staying far away.

I am not able to eat that stuff. not only do I dump, but it triggers my brain to think I can eat more food...I get hungry faster. So I don't eat it anymore. Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels

Yea.. Those things are no longer on my food list. I can have some quinoa, but not a lot (1-2 TBS ) and no it every day.

I'm 6 weeks out. I literally just finished eating one small piece of whole wheat toast with a smear of peanut butter. I don't think I'll do it again. It's sitting like lead. I've had peanut butter before, but not any type of bread, except for Melba toast. As I sit here, I want to throw it up. Ick. I haven't tried rice.

Really, for me it wouldn't be a bad thing to not be able to eat bread again. I ate way too much of it before.

You are not that far out to be eating such empty carbs.  I have yet to eat rice, pasta of any kind, any type of noodle and ESPECIALLY bread.  I can eat whole grain once in a blue moon, never have had a full sandwich and I am 15 months out.

Right now the first 5 and 6 months are when you will lose the fastest and after that at 9 months you will slow down and at one year even more.  You will not stop but those first months are crucial.  I know some surgeons allow it, but alot of of people will tell you just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Focus right now of changing you eating, the way you eat.  It takes time to retrain our brain, but that is what gets you through this, not just the pouch.  Once you are in maintenance, then you will be back to watching what you have to eat like you did before surgery.  Just because we have pouches now means not alot in the grand scheme of things because you can eat around your pouch and then comes the weight creeping back.  Don'r give up, there will be good days and really some screwed up days.

Best of luck and keep working the program.  Jane kiss

Listen to Jane, she has some great stuff in that post.

I have tried a small bite of various breads from time to time and I can pretty much tell immediately that they are not going to work in my stomach. I haven't tried pasta yet.

I haven't had any yet because I'm not allowed any grains until six months out.

Pasta will be completely off the table for me. It's a huge trigger for me, and so many people have said that it sits really heavy.

I'm afraid to try bread when the time comes. Maybe a wrap.

I have not tried breads, but my doctor says that if you wait until the 1 year mark OR have achieved your loss goal, then you'll be more successful. So I am waiting.

Now my husband, who is at his goal does toast the 100 calorie breads and tolerates them just fine. I make him a 'grilled' cheese which is really just uber toasted rounds with cheese in them and then warmed in the toaster oven to further melt the cheese. And he loves them once every few weeks, but he doesn't have bread but 2 times a month. We keep a 6 pack of the rounds in the freezer and it takes him a few months to go through it.
