HMMM too many calories - at 2.5 months out?
So my nut said not to bother counting calories just three meals measured and 2 protein shakes a day. I am sticking to that plus walking 2.8 miles m-f Zumba for an hour 4 days a week and walking 3-6 miles on sundays.
I decided to put two days worth in myfitnesspal just out of curiosity. I had about 1000 - 1200 each day. My protein shakes alone ar 350 each meal is 1/2 cup of meat and veggies. I typically dont eat yogurts and other foods but I do eat actual meat and eggs and such. My protein is right on at about 80 grams and fluids are good. I am losing although not like I was but a steady 2-3 lbs a week. Should I cut back on my food? I get hungry. I dont have any issues with any food. I dont think all my nerves are back yet because while i measure everything I have yet to feel that full or stuck feeling people talk about.
In the past with my level of activity I would have thought this was a good range maybe even low but I see others are closer to 700 a day.
thoughts?
Thanks
Sarah

At your activity level (active), and if you are still losing weight, I would not bother counting calories... just focus on eating what you should. Your nutritionist is right.
The time to worry is if you are not eating a protein-forward diet and/or not losing weight.

I am 9.5 weeks out, so about the same as you and I am eating at most 650 calories a day. I was given the range of 550-650 calories a day, focusing on protein (60-80g) and fluid in take (48-64+ oz. a day). I'm to stay at that until about 5 months and it should naturally go up, but not too quickly, over time. Measuring is key because it's not expected you will feel fullness or hunger correctly, a lot of what we experience is "head hunger" and not true hunger. Your protein shakes sound really high calorically, most are around 160-200 calories for an 8 ounce shake mixed with fat free/skim milk. What are you doing for shakes? Everyone's plan and needs are different of course and you have to follow your specific program. I walk 30mins. everyday, started meeting with a personal trainer once a week for resistance training+cardio and Yoga 1-2x/week, and for food I do 2 "meals" and 1 shake, 1 protein snack, some days I do 3 meals instead as I'm typically able to go above and beyond my protein goal w/out the shakes, but sometimes I just like the convenience or don't feel like cooking .
The protein is 160 each total is 320 for the day. Thanks for the reply I will be sure I am really feeling hunger but I am measuring and sticking to the 3 meals a day so that may be why I never feel really full. I am not hungry after I eat but sometimes inbetween meals.

If you are losing, it sound like you are following orders properly. HOWEVER, I'm concerned that your choice of shakes are so calorie laden ....the ones I use are all in the 100-150 calorie range, so less than HALF what yours are. That seems like a lot, unless you meant you are getting 350 calories total all day using shakes.
Is that counting milk, or do you use water in yours? I use Bariatric Advantage, which is about 150 for the shake, but when I add soy milk they go up to about 210 or 220.
