just had surgery but cant eat plz help

I had surgery on 8/8 and was doing fine eating and drinking. Then I started to get nausas about a week after. I haven't been able to eat anything and I mean nothing for the last 4 to 5 days. I'm nausas all the time. I can get my fluids in just can't eat. I've lost 20 lbs since surgery but probably cause I can't eat, any suggestions?

Call your surgeons's office and let them know what is goong on.  not eating anything for 5 days is serious!  They may want to see you in the office, but at the very least you can have them call in something for nausea.

I called them on Thrus. and then again on Fri. The nurse told me that it was to late ro have me come in for fluids because I live about 45mins drom the office and it was 3:45pm when I was well enough to call. So she said if I get really sick go to the er otherwise call her back on Monday morning.

That is insane that the nurse turned you away, you are their patient! If they were closed/closing she should've ordered you to go to the ER! Considering how long this has been going on I highly suggest that you DO go to the ER so they can get you started on something...That is a LONG time to go without any sustenance...But you just wrote that they said it's too late to come in for fluids, are you not getting in enough fluid now too? That can be deadly if you are becoming dehydrated on top of it. Get to the ER if so!

I wasn't when got out of the hopital but am now I just can't eat but the nurse thinks I might still be dehydrated that's why I'm nauseous and why I need fluids.

Yeah that is why you need to go to the ER asap. Dehydration is the number one concern post op. You need to go in and let them put you on fluids and also some Zofran so that you can start eating again...

I had this problem too. My doc prescribe zofran and it helped me. Hope you can get some help.  Try drinking shakes so that you are at least getting some protein. Definitely consult with your doctor. Best wishes on your journey ;)

You need something for the nausea, don't wait another day on it, call them in the AM! When you say you can get your fluids in, are you able to get your shakes down too? I'd be less worried about not eating "food" at that stage if you were able to tolerate and keep down your protein shakes and water. If not, then you definitely need something for the nausea...

My doc doesn't want his patients having shakes. He says that's not eating and he wants us to relearn to eat. Also says that the shakes have alot of unnessary calories and that they just run rite through you so you could feel hunger.
