What cauSes this? I am 7 weeks out and have been dealing with bad breath and like a thick film in my mouth. Is this from ketosis? What does this mean? I understand what ketosis is in diabetics but what about post op?

It's from the rapid weight loss. It will pass. I sucked on SF mints.

It's because you're losing weight so fast. So
Your body goes through ketosis. But I'd have the doctor check out the film in your mouth. It may be thrush.

The bad breath may be ketosis.  It just means you're burning fat.

The thick film may be thrush, though, which is a fungal infection (it's actually a type of yeast infection, just in your mouth instead of your vagina, isn't that lovely?).  It's not uncommon after surgery.  Call your doc.  It's usually not hard to treat.

Ugh, I had the worst dry, sticky, filmy mouth. Its ketosis. Does everything almost have a sweetness to it?

I kept sugar free gum on hand constantly at first, now I have it stashed strategically.
