How much weight did you lose before you needed new clothes?

I've noticed my pants size dropping much slower than my tops. I had surgery Nov 19, 2012 at 389lbs. I was wearing 4x tops and 30 in jeans but I know I was bigger since the clothes were old and stretched. I was probably a 5x top and 32 pants. Around The beginning of Feb (2.5-3 months post) I was down about 70lbs and I was comfortably in a 2x top and 28 pants. End of April/beginning of May I bought jeans in a 24. Well even with a belt they're just not cutting it anymore. Went shopping last weekend and tried on some jeans... I'm down to an 18 and a L/XL top depending on the type/cut. I'm currently down 148lbs since surgery. I weight 241 and am 5'8. Not sure if that helps. One of the best things I was advised from someone on here (wish I could remember who) was that you melt like a snowman meaning the weight comes off from top to bottom. I imagine it probably doesn't apply to everyone but it has been me to a tee. The majority of the weight I have left to lose is in my legs now. Stuck with it and take your measurement. Out of no where you'll notice that shirt that always used to be snug is suddenly swimming on you!

I'm almost 50 lbs. down, I just went and bought new stretch pants for the gym and a top. I used to wear 3x in pants, and now fitting into XL (for tops too). Since I coudln't do anything really to modify my gym pants (no belt loops, no drawstring, etc) I had to buy smaller, and it's still a tad snug so it will last me at least a few months I think. With my other clothes I have other smaller size pants that I saved from my various years of dieting so I just go "shopping" in my closet lol.

I started at 309 5'6" size 22-24 at Lane Bryant. I had to loose about 40 pounds before I saw any looseness in the pants. I wore a belt and those same pants until I had lost about 70 pounds....and at that point they were falling off even with the belt. I had my mom take my dress clothes in about an inch on each side (as those can be pricey) so I could make them last longer. Then I had to loose another 30 pounds before I dropped to an 18. I am now at 104 pounds down (34 to goal) and I could probably go to a size 16 if I wanted to. My problem is that I don't loose evenly. My butt and boobs are gone but my belly is still there (smaller but still there)...so that makes the waist of pants still tight but other areas loose.  I am hoping to get closer to my goal (within 5 lbs) before buying an entire new wardrobe. I did go to Good Will though once when I dropped to an 18 and found a few cute work dresses that fit perfectly for $3....but I wouldn't buy to many at full price until you're close to/at goal.

I started at 434 and size 32 , Now I'm 379 and a 30 . Iv'e lost 55 lbs so far . I haven't worn jeans in a few yrs ( can't wait ! )  My pants hae stretchy waists .  In teh but they are super saggy . Front they are saggy too .  My shirts are falling off my shoulders. I haven't bought new clothes yet.  I'm guessing another 15 lbs and maybe I'll be down to a 28 .

I started at a tight 16 and did not buy any new clothes until size 12. So about 50 pounds.

Surgery weight:  232 lbs. / Goal: 145 lbs. Height:  5'5"     Fat? Ain't nobody got time for that.

Based on my own experiences (as opposed to what I've read anywhere), the higher the weight/size, the longer it takes to go down a size.

I started in mid-April at 237 and a tight size 20.  I didn't buy new clothes until late May (six weeks later) when I was down about 35 pounds.  And then, I only bought pants (I've been losing bottom up--my hips are going down in size faster than my middle).  The next size change occurred about four weeks later, when I was down another 12 lbs.  A month after that (and down an additional 12 lbs.), I bought again.  Ten pounds after that, I had to buy more.  And now, only a couple of weeks later, I'm beginning to feel them go loose.

Currently, I'm in a size 12.  It seems to me the last time I got down to this range (which was four years ago), every 10 lbs or so was a new size.  It's exciting, if expensive!  I try to only buy a couple of pairs of pants at each size.  Those coupled with a few flowy dresses and a pair of leggings have been dressing me for work.  Thankfully, my coworkers haven't commented on my lack of variety!

I've lost almost 100 pounds and I'm still wearing a lot of my same clothes. They just fit much more loosely than before. Most of them have elastic or drawstring waists so I just tighten them. Best wishes on your journey

I was 267 wearing a 18/20... I've lost 80 lbs and I now wear a 12.. Almost a 10.. My clothes made me look sloppy so I had to buy new things.. Im almost 5 months out.. Try to wait as long as you can to buy new things or you will end up buying clothes every few pounds.. Good luck!!!
