Nerve Pain in Feet

Since swelling from surgery has gone down, I am experiencing nerve pain in both my feet. It feels like they are burnt, or have pins poking them. It isn't constant but very uncomfortable. Doc says this isn't a complication of surgery. Could this be a vitamin deficiency already? I don't know what to do.

I had the same thing, I got to the point I couldn't walk.  It's swelling in your feet still from the surgery.  Go to a Ciropractor and get you feet massaged.  It worked 100% for me.

Well, there are a couple of vitamin deficiencies that could cause that.  B12 would be most likely, followed by thiamine (B1) and copper.  However, it's unlikely you've developed a deficiency this soon after surgery, unless you were already very low before surgery.

I would see your doctor.  Doesn't need to be your surgeon, your PCP would be fine.  Ask them to order some labs (B12, thiamine and copper) and ask if they think it could be caused by anything else.  You may need an xray or MRI - a pinched nerve in your back can cause symptoms like that.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Where you diabetic? Are you supplementing with vitamins yet? Early out less than 3 months actually I experienced symptoms like my feet were falling asleep then drop foot. That was the weirded feeling ever. My B-1 was low and B-12 was at 600 since then I supplement high doses of B-12 and a super B with an occasional B-1 and B-6 separately as labs dictate.

Do you know what your pre-op labs were?

Hi all. Thx for input. This seems to be a mystery. I had no back injury or wasn't pre or diabetic. I did have pretty bad edema after my surgery, which has since gone away. I've been doing some Internet research and I could have peripheral neuropathy due to trauma. Maybe I was so swollen it traumatized the nerves in my feet. I'm just praying this is temporary.
This has been a very difficult recovery for me. Still being great for drain hole infection, which is slowing down my walking and energy levels. I need a nap every day. I'm on puréed phase and doing fine except that I am never hungry so have to force myself to eat. Been eating about 2oz 4-5 times a day. I rarely finish the 2oz tho. Drinking my fluids and getting most of my protein thru shakes and IsoPure clear liquids. I'm feeling pretty bummed I even did this to myself. On a positive note, I have lost 17lbs. I need to find the energy to update my health tracker.
