Thank you so much for the info.  I hope we can stay in touch.  I will be praying for you.  What are you going to get a bypass or a sleeve or what?  Thank you for your sweet spirit, I really am enjoying talking to a person who doesn't talk down to me.  Thank you Have you looked in to other things  ?

Just giving you my input.  I had a stomach stapling in 1995.  They have mostly discontinued this surgery because it doesn't work for a long period of time and the new methods of gastric bypass are much more effective.  I don't know if you had stomach stapling or an actual gastric bypass in 1979.  I had a revision in January of this year to a RNY.  It is has been 8 1/2 months since my revision to an RNY.  I have lost about 70 lbs and i am very happy.  Having said this though, If i was doing this again, I would definitely go for the DS.  It has a better history of long term success and I believe if the volume of food you eat is the problem I think the DS is a better fit.  Please check out the revision section and research the DS surgery.  It may be your best option for a long term success.  It is better to find the right surgery even though you may have to travel to get to the best surgeon or if it costs more.  Better to do it right the second time around.  I didn't know enough about the DS surgery or i would have opted for the DS.

Good luck.

Michelle

33 years is a long time ago.  I feel like after having 3 kids and other things that happened in my life I have done pretty good.  I kept the weight off for about 25 years that is after the kids were born and had a pretty busy life.  Then we built a home and lived in  a 5th wheel for 6 months and it all went down hill.  I feel like I am having to defend my life to people in this message board.  These are people who have had some kind of surgery, you would think that they would understand.  I have been short and stocky all of my life and very prone to weight gain.  I am now doing Nutrisystem and have lost some weight, but my husband says maybe I should look into this option.  It sounds like good info about the DS.  I'll have to find out what it is. thanks so much and I hope you have continued success.  ?

My surgeon, who is one of 75 in the country that does ALL the surgeries and revisions, stated I can only have RNY because of the SRVG. Apparently that lovely band has scared me up nicely and I had an MVA that rearranged my body for a while and here I am

I will embrace this new tool with all my mind, body and soul !   laugh

I prepared the mind, soul is good to go.......so just need guts rearranged and I'm OFF......

Although some will tell you I'm off anyway no

Here's my 2 cents.

I am in Dr Keith Kim's program. My RNY was 8/28.

The Dr says eat measured amounts. I was told to buy a 5 fluid ounce measuring glass with 1 fluid ounce graduations. Today for dinner I had 1 1/2 ounce of puree sirloin tip pot roast and 1 ounce of puree carrot.

Dr Kim, the NUT, the psych, the nurses all say measure...or else I will gain the weight back.

I believe you are very defensive and honestly I just don't think you are going about this the right way.

You don't want any type of advice form anyone except what they have to say about a revision. Yet you had gastric bypass and admit you don't know what malabsorption is. I feel it's kind of like you bought a car, don't know how to use the signal light, you can't make a turn and so you are looking to buy another car.

I really wonder how much you understand about the surgery you had?

The weight comes off like magic at first and then it slows down, most people start experimenting and the further our you are the more you can eat. There has to be some internal control at some point. The first year is about learning to eat healthy, about learning to make better choices. The limitations of surgery help with that. It's time to develop good habits. You have to keep up with these habits and new way of life or you will gain.

If you still can't control what you are eating to the point of being able to eat like you did before surgery then you need to seek help. Another surgery will not benefit you. You will eat your way out of that one also.

What is the deal?  You feel like you need to give anyone who is asking questions 20 lashes before they can get information.  As I have said before to Dr. ****rogirl I know my life don't worry about me and my eating habits.  If you have information about the different surgeries then I will listen.  I am not defensive you on the other hand are condescending and very arrogant if you think any of these people on this site are coming to this site to hear you to tell them they need to eat differently as if we don't already know every stinking thing you have to say and heard it and practiced it most all of our lives.  Think about what kind of site this is.  It is for us people who have done most everything and lived through many many many years of dieting and know all the ins and outs to all of this.  Do you actually think you are telling us anything new?  I'm thinking this is all you know and so it is what you  say to all those who choose to visit this site.  A little advise STOP with lashes its not what I need from you

You are so angry, I feel sorry for you.

I hope you find what you are looking for, all the best in the future.

My advice would be to forego this board as it clearly is not providing what you want and head over to the Revisions Board and/or the DS Board - you will no doubt get a warm, comforting welcome over there.
