You are definitely considered a light weight, starting at 234 pounds.  If you are doing everything you are supposed to (protein, water, etc.), the weight will come off.  It's probably going to be slow for you.  It was slow for me too.  I was very frustrated at the beginning as well.  I started at 256.  I am down 95 pounds in under 9 months.  So many people on here are down over 100 by 6 months.  There is a forum for light weights - you may want to check that out.  You probably barely qualified for surgery - you are already way ahead of a lot of people.  Remember to be patient.  The weight will come off!

Hello,

I posted something very similar yesterday.  I started out at 266, and am now down to 256 3 wks after surgery.  I lost 10lbs the first week after surgery, but haven't lost anything since.  I was worried so I called my dietician, and she said that some people need more protein than others.  She advised me to bump up my protein to around the 80-88 g goal which for me is on the high end of what I should be taking in.  I feel like I am doing everything I need to be doing, but it isn't happening.  I am not looking to lose weight quickly, but it is disheartening to not lose after everything we go through for surgery.  Do you track everything you eat?  I found that to be helpful as well as exercise.  I have my fingers crossed for you, and please let me know when things change because we are in the same boat!!!  Good luck, and keep your head up!

You will not lose as fast as someone with more weight to lose but will get to goal faster because you don't have as much to lose. You have lost about 3 pounds a week which is not bad. Are you exercising and getting your protein and water each day? If you are, just keep following the rules and you will get there. I averaged a bit over 3 pounds a week and am under goal at 1 year. In fact I have been told not to lose anymore weight! Words I never thought I would hear a doctor say! I started at 258.

Sounds good to me! I am seven weeks out and lost 19 pounds my first month and the scale has not moved for me since then (3 weeks)... Seriously, I went through all of this since Feb for this?

It seems like you'll be a slower loser, doesn't mean you won't lose.   Are you being aware of your eats, drinking enough, getting some type of movement in?

You have plenty of time to lose the weight, stay on track the weight WILL come off.
