Way TMI but I need some guidance
I am about 5-1/2 months out and almost 60# down but I now have this horrible issue and wanted to know if this could have anything to do with the gastric bypass surgery.
It started about a month ago when I went to the bathroom and what came out was this lighter colored foamy crap. If this was not bad enough, it smells horrible. So bad, that even if flushing and spraying at the time during the performance, it seeps out into the house and practically killing anyone in there. I am not eating excess fat (as this stuff floats) and it shows no sign of going away anytime soon.
I am not speaking with my bariatric surgeon since he never called me back after I darn near died in June from a hidden hospital-acquired infection. I see my PC on a regular basis but do not have an appointment for two months. I am also extremely weak and am having a difficult time eating.
Any ideas?
Floating means you are malabsorbing fat as is the fluffy poo. If it's really causing you some problems getting on probiotics or a round of Flagryl might be needed to help with any bacteria in your gut.

Was it mixed with regular waste as well? I've had loose stools (diarrhea) ever since I had my surgery. I sometimes have some foam mixed in with it, but as far as smell, it's nothing worse than what regular poop smells like I guess, lol. To be on the safe side, I would see if your PCP could see you sooner. Good luck.

As others said - you may developed bacterial infection - bacterial or fungal, it may be best to try to see the PCP earlier to make sure you don't need a series of strong antibiotics (bacteria) or anti-yeast stuff to deal with that.

I'd make an appt with your PCP soon.

Thank you so much. I figured it had to be fat but I have eaten so very little fat. Probiotics.....why did I not think of that. I have some in the frig and will take one right now.
Actually, my gift from this bariatric facility several years ago when they installed a band was c.diff, so I am most familiar with that. I know that is not the problem. I will give the probiotics a chance and if they do not help, I will call my PCP Monday morning.
Thanks again!
To help with the smell keep a book of matches in the bathroom and light one and then throw it in the toilet before ;you flush. Eliminates a lot of odor!!
