You have a great attitude. Your journey is just beginning so you have a lot to look forward to. Shout out to your hubby that he is right of course. Realistic goals do need to be set. But averages are averages. I think if you work hard at this and develop both skills an habits now they will serve you well as you travel towards goals. I only wish I could have in the beginning, but it just wasn't my time yet.

I'm sure you've seen or heard others post and say they operated on our stomach not our head. It is very true IMO. I have a lot of friends now who have had wls. It has always bothered me when looking at a gushy who started at a similar weight but was able to get to the low 200s. There was no reason I could see at first that there was a difference. Until I honestly assessed what I was doing. Not following the plan, not exercising, going back to mold habits. In a nut shel when I started following the plan weight came off. Therefore I have concluded that we can affect the outcome. no brainier lol

My surgeon didn't really give me a goal... he wrote down what I would probably be, and what we wanted me to be, but there was no "this is all you will lose" discussion.

So originally I set a goal for myself of weighing around 180.  Then as I passed below 180 and continued losing, I realized I would stop losing when I stopped losing, and there was no way to tell when that would happen.  I continued to eat high-protein, low sugar, low-carb, exercised, and left the rest up to Pouchy.

And fyi, I did not, and do not, eat "low fat".  After I read the ingredients on most of the low-fat foods, I realized all they do is add sugar and chemicals to make up for the loss of fat.

Now on any given day I am anywhere from 144-155 or so.  Today I was 147.  That means I lost nearly 200 pounds in two years.  Your surgeon is full of ****  Your body will stop when it is ready, as long as you treat your tool well and follow the rules.

No matter what he SAYS, no matter what YOU want, there will be a point that your body will get to if you follow the rules. Beyond that there is likely a place you'll get if you put in real life-time effort in diet & exercise. But he can't know what your body will do, and he can't control what YOU will do with the tool. He gave you the pat response and that won't change reality. YOUR body has a place it will want to be. It might be above or below of what you want to acheive.

My goal was 154. I got there at 29 months postop, and dropped another 8 below that. I was skinny for me. But for a long time I was at 185 postop before i started losing, and after some non-wls issues developed, I gained some back (6 weeks of total immobility following surgery on my back and I was back up above goal). But that I ended back in the same zone I was at on the way down tells me that at my current level of activity this is ME. I'm 165 lbs below maximum, a little more than 108 lbs below surgery weight, and currently registering obese (or is it overweight... it doesn't matter, it's the right weight for me so who cares). Having a maximum weight at 350 means I have a lot of excess skin, I was always a heavy boned individual, and recently discovered that I have some bones that are super-dense (probably less than 8 oz of extra weight, since they're only hand bones)... so I accept this as who I am.

Remember... YOU and YOUR DOCTOR are not mind-readers or able to read the future. He can give you the info that is true statistically, but the great thing is that you are an individual. YOUR final weight is 75% based on what your body just plain wants to happen, and 25% based on YOU and your exercise regimen and food intake.
