poll about addiction

No addictions to anything before or after surgery. However, I have self medicated with food in the past. Also, I struggled with depression and anxiety for years, which made it harder for me to get a grip on my eating.

I don't believe i was addicted to anything before surgery, and am not addicted to anything now.

1.  Were you addicted to food before you had RNY? Definately sweets/carbs and processed lunch meats

2.  Were you addicted to alcohol before you had RNY? No but years ago I was thinking about how easy it would be to get addicted to alcohol and made every effort to not let this happen.

3.  Were you addicted to anything else before you had RNY?  And if so, what?

Cigarettes and it's still a vice I have and enjoy. (Please do not feel the need to lecture me on this as it won't make a difference what so ever.) I am just being upfront and honest about smoking.

4.  If you were not addicted to alcohol before you had RNY, did you become addicted to alcohol after you had RNY? No but I can't drink at all now like I used to. It's hard to finish one drink.

5.  Did you develop any addictioins after RNY?  And if so, to what? None that I am aware of.

2. Were you addicted to alcohol before you had RNY? No, drank maybe once a month with friends

3. Were you addicted to anything else before you had RNY? And if so, what? I quite smoking 4 years ago.

4. If you were not addicted to alcohol before you had RNY, did you become addicted to alcohol after you had RNY? I am now addicted to alcohol. I drink most nights and when I do drink, I drink to get drunk. I black out a lot.  I have severe anxiety and depression and remorse the following day. I have to ask my husband if I did anything wrong.  I've admitted to him about some of my blackouts but others, I keep to myself. I now buy boxes of wine so he can't see how much I've had to drink. 

Also, I'm now starting to obsess about food again.  I'm back on this site to try to get a handle on my life and get myself back on track.  I have not had regain yet, but I've not lost since I started drinking about almost a year ago.
