Diet Soda question....

I'm 16 months out and well, I had avoided soda for the first 15 months faithfully, in the last couple of weeks I started drinking a little with it over ice and letting the carbonation settle but as with all things, I think I went overboard and my stomach became really sore...I woke up in the middle of the night...so I'm not sure if it was something I ate or if that was the culprit......I am making myself believe it was so I will stop that bad habit and get all my water in....I feel better today but am worried something else could be going on.  Tuesday night at Zumba I had to sit down because I felt like my sugar dropped and felt like I was going to drop....but it could have been dehydration?

All this to say, anyone have any stories or ideas what could be going on or had something similar?  Crazy how I know water is the best thing and I have such a hard time getting in all in.

Thanks!!

Sherry

I will have a diet coke occasionally, but I always drink my water too. I think all things in moderation is fine.

I will be 10 years out in January, and I drink one coke zero per day with no problems.  I sip on it, and it takes all afternoon to fini****  I also have a cup of water on my desk at all times  that I drink along with it.  I don't count the coke zero in my liquid total.  Got to make sure you get those fluids in.

It sounds like you might have been dehydrated. The caffeine in the soda is a diuretic so if you are going to drink it you need to drink extra fluids.

Diet soda, like coffee, is not going to dehydrate you.  This is a myth.  Both contain far more water than you lose from the diuretic effect of caffeine.
