I was recognised!

This may sound silly, but due to other health concerns I have not been out and about in my community in the last two years since my surgery. I am having a panic attack after just now seeing an old co-worker and talking to her without being recognized. Admittedly, I wanted an ego boost so as we passed by I told her I knew her from work. She was polite, but it had been several years and she had NO idea who I was. As it is at the supermarket, we passed each other again and she asked my name and her face lit up and obviously she finally remembered. I know my hair is different and I wasn't in "work" clothes but I knew it was the weight that sealed the deal. I thought this would make me feel good, but instead I feel panicky, like who I was doesn't exist anymore and I don't know yet who I am turning into.

Anyone else have this kind of realization! Thanks.

I have been in therapy for the past two years.I had my surgery two weeks ago. When I see my therapist her and I were talking that sometimes people can become hermits after the surgery or go to the other realm and be really out going. If you can go talk to someone you should. To let life past you by without seeing it would be a shame,I am a little nervous after I lose the weight.I have people that come up to me and tell me their whole life story. And sometimes I don't want to know..I am sure the woman you worked with was happy to see you.And she may have been nervous to say hello to you.One thing is weird when we get older is you just can't walk up to someone like you did in kindergarten and say hey you want to be friends.I know that is a little silly but it is true.Go talk to someone about this.It will help you.
