I'm on my way, my surgery is scheduled for Jan 8, at St Vincents Hospital in Carmel Indiana . I know I will be on liquids not sure how long then go to pureed and soft foods. Just wanted to ask what did you drink and eat at these stages ? any ideas would be appreciated.

Did your NUT not give you list? She should have... If not, ask. Every doc is different. And Congrats!

During liquids I drank a lot of IsoPure, clear and protein powder in SF cocoa. It has lots of protein and I bought it at my local GNC. I ate a lot of Fage Total 0 greek yogurt, vegetarian and turkey chilis and cottage cheese. I would ask your NUT for the surgeon's meal plan and stages so you have a guide to work with. Wishing you the best of luck.

After surgery it is ok to drink SF cocoa, do you mean SF carnation ? do I mix chocolate protein powder in it ? does it matter the brand because I know some protein powder does not taste good. Thanks

If you list what your nutritionist and surgeon have cleared at each stage, you can likely get a much better response from folks. I know I have a lot of recipes even in the liquid stage, but if they are not things that you are allowed, it won't help. :)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Every doc is different - my pre op was 2 weeks of liquid diet.  I had an Adkins shake for breakfast,  Herbal tea after that, chicken broth and a shake for lunch, sometimes a sugar free popsicle for a treat, more Adkins and chicken broth for dinner.  It seemed like having the broth made it more like a meal, especially hen I was having lunch with co-workers.  I was determined to see it through and counted down the days until surgery. After surgery I had another couple of weeks of protein shakes, cottage cheese and yogurt - some soft scrambled eggbeaters and pureed soup.  By 7 weeks I was able to have an ounce of chicken or fish and am now up to 2-3 ounces at 4 months.  Your doc should be giving you a plan soon.  As I said every doc says something different - they all have their pet plans but they all seem to work just fine.  Good luck on the 8th
