I'm an older mom had my baby girl at 47 and she is my world, so anyway I love picking her up and playing with her. Do you know how long I will have to wait to pick her up, if I'm sitting can she sit on my lap ?

I'm still pre-op so I don't have answer, just wanted to tell you how sweet your post is.  Enjoy baby girl!

I am 35, and my 45 pound 3 year old was just able to comfortably sit in my lap at about 6 weeks out. However, he has absolutely no concept of being still, so it may be different for you. Plus, I had a drain for 2 weeks and a feeding tube for 4 weeks so that probably made a difference too.

Have a happy Thansgiving!

I have a 2 year old son and I was required to wait 6 weeks to pick him up. I had him sit in my lap at around 4 weeks.

I am a 36 year old mom of a 37lb, energetic, 3 year old boy. I was worried about the same thing when I had RNY surgery on Oct 14. I was able to allow him to sit in my lap and cuddle as soon as I got home from the hospital. I was able to pick him up again right around 5 weeks out. We joke that he is like one of those giant Great Dane's that has no idea he is not a lap dog (he is off the charts on height and weight). He loves to be held, so it's a joy to be a able to pick up my little stinker again! : )

Good luck with your surgery. I wish you a swift recovery so you can get back to that little darling!!

I just got home from the hospital today. My 29 lb 3 year old really understands the "boo boos" and is very gentle. My 19 lb 19 month old is crazy and our cuddling will have to wait!
