How long after RNY should you wait to get a abdominoplasty done?

Just was curious. As I am thinking about getting one done when I am allowed.

The PS i talked to said he wouldnt do anything until you are at a stable weight for at least 6 months to 1 year. So with WLS patients he tends to say 2 years post op.

The one I spoke to said 2 years out or one year at a steady weight. I checked when I had to go back in for a hernia surgery to see if I could save a couple of bucks since I was going under anyway.

I was at goal at 6 months and had mine at  22months out.

Most reputable plastic surgeons would want you at goal and maintaining for a year - it's during this time that we get a little bit of "distribution" so you'll look better and you'll get a better result.

I had my first appointment on my first anniversary of surgery and the tummy tuck three months after that.  The requirement was that I was at a weight where I did not intend to go up or down more than 10 pounds for life.  Losing or gaining more than 10 pounds can start to distort the surgery.

I had mine when I was in the 150's at 18 months out.  I kept losing after I had mine done and now 7 yrs later weigh 128lbs and still have a perfectly flat stomach.  I get comments and glares all the time, killer curves and a flat stomach make lots of womyn jealous, it's amazingly fun, I highly recommend it to everyone.  Fake boobs typically look horrid on older womyn, and luckily I spent 20 yrs in a tight bra when I was MO, so mine are just smaller yet perky, I got lucky there. I wish I had this body when I was 20 and not nearly 50.  Oh well better late then never.

As stated above, most reputable PS will want you at a stable weight for at least 6 months. I had mine done exactly 2 years and one week after WLS.

My plastic surgeon isn't even touching it til I am done losing and have maintained for 6 months, he said realistically at minimum 2 years post op....I had a hysterectomy and a mastectomy and reconstruction before my 6 months...(and an ulcer, and  a jaw surgery) (and three endoscopy) and I am surgeries out and my body needs a chance to recover for quite a while.  Plastics also said that they don't want ANY post op complications from the RNY before doing the tummy tuck.  Good luck.
