A great end to 2013...and 2 NSV

So, it's the last day of 2013.  This has been a year of soul searching, hard choices, and hard work for me.  To cut to the chase, I finally made up my mind in May that it was time to actually do something.  After 10+ years of thinking about having GBS and many years of pretending I was okay and didn't need help, I finally admitted that I did and finally talked to my husband about the fact I needed help dealing with my weight.  With his support and encouragement, I attended my WLS orientation on 6/1/13.  I immediately knew this was what I needed to do to reclaim my life and the day we left I changed my way of eating.  I lost 30 lbs between 6/1/13 and my surgery on 8/28/13.  As of today, I am down 85 lbs.  I feel better than I have in 10+ years!   I feel I'm a slow loser, but that's okay.   I am losing and every day I feel better and better.

So today...the last day of 2013...I tried on some pants and a shirt I bought not too long after surgery.  Both 1X.   I started my journey at a 4x pant  (32/34)and 3X shirt (30/32).  Both FIT!!

I also went to get a pedicure (my treat for myself).  In the past, I've struggled because it has been hard for me to keep my feet in the right position because my thighs were so big that my feet rolled out.  I'd try to be a good customer and keep my feet in the right position, but it was really uncomfortable.   Not today!  I realized when I left that I never once had to force my legs together.  They actually just went where they were supposed to go!

AMAZING!

I still have a very long way to go to meet my goals.  But I am already thankful for my decision to reclaim my life and the way this surgery has enabled me to do that.  No, it's not easy.  This isn't a quick fix.  I struggle every day as do most people, I assume.  But for the first time in a very long time I am hopeful.  And I am so happy with the progress I've made and the path  I am on.

Wishing everyone on OH nothing but the best in 2014.  There is nothing but possibilities on the horizon for all of us!

Congrats!!!  Wait until you can cross you legs!!!  I have also purchased clothes that are a few sizes smaller.  I can't wait to fit into them.

Good for you! You have what may be the fastest start to surgery date times I have ever heard of. So glad that you were able to get it done so quickly!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Thanks! I guess when you have to self pay because your insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery you can move things along. The biggest obstacle was that my surgeon required a 5 to 10% weight loss before surgery. So that took me 3 months.

I've always had that problem getting a pedicure. To the point that I hated to go, but I love cute toes too much that I would force myself to be uncomfortable every few months. This past visit, I was on my way home before I realized my thighs weren't cramping from trying to sit properly.  That was exciting, especially considering I am only 3.5 months out from surgery.
