My surgery is on the the 8th and were having really bad weather here in South Bend and Surrounding areas. The cold and weather has everything closed we are under a State of Emergency can't be on roads offices are closed and schools. I tried to call my Dr in Carmel Indiana, St Vincents Hospital and they are closed. I don't know what tomorrow will be like but schools are closed and we might not be able to be on the roads. My doors are frozen closed in my car so I can't start it. I have no ideas if any roads are closed on my way to hospital it is 3 hours away. Has anyone had a Dr reschedule their surgery at St Vincents due to weather ? I was thinking about rescheduling if I did not have a long wait. I don't know what to do because I have to be at the hospital at 6am Wed and would have to leave my house at 2:30 am.

I can understand a doctor's office being closed, but the hospital is closed?  That doesn't seem right.  I don't think hospitals close for bad weather.

If your surgery is on the 8th, I would try again to reach your surgeon's office tomorrow.  If they are still closed tomorrow, I would either call the hospital directly or call the surgeon on call for your doc's practice.  They should have someone on call all the time and usually when you call the main number and they are closed, there is a recording that tells you how to reach the doc on call if it's urgent.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Then call the hospital.  They will know if your surgeon is cancelling his surgeries or not.

Unfortunately the hospitals are closed here in Indianapolis!!! This is the first for me... I'm from Chicago just moved here last March. We are in a state of emergency. Everything is shut down including jobs. By Jan 8th, everything will be back to normal. You will still have your surgery. Just keep calling until you reach someone because they at least need to have someone on call.

Good Luck!!!!

I cannot imagine hospitals being closed. They cannot just send everyone home that was a patient when this weather hit.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

You still have tomorrow to get it all straightened out. If you need to consider staying at a hotel close to the hospital tomorrow night. No sense driving three hours when its likely to be icier and the roads won't be as clean. Good luck, I bet you will find out its a go.....
