I did my usual protein shake for breakfast.

Then I had some cereal for a snack.  Not a good idea.  I eat too much of it every time and then an hour or so later my blood sugar crashes.  The last couple months have been rough for me financially speaking so I've been relying on a local food pantry for some of my groceries.  I always get cereal from them.  It would be OK to eat one box of cereal a month if I spread it out and ate reasonable portions.  It's just so easy to eat too much.

Anyway.  For lunch I had broccoli cheddar soup at Panera.  I also about about 1/4 of my friend's chocolate chip cookie.  Which is something I rarely eat and I don't see anything wrong with doing that once in a while for a treat but I didn't really need a cookie treat when I already ate cereal today.  Blah.

The rest of the day needs to be better.  I think I'll do a protein shake later for a snack since my cereal and my soup did not have much protein.  I might make vegetarian chili for dinner, but I'm feeling kinda lazy so I might not.  I might have some cheese and, um, something else with that cheese instead.  I dunno what I'd eat with it.  Maybe I'll have some vegetable soup.

Well I'm not as far out as you by any means, but I think even today being a "bad" day (with cereal and a quarter cookie) is still about 20% of the calories of any day that any one of us on the forum ate pre-op. So keep your head up and I think cheese and veggie soup sounds pretty delicious :)

i just can't do a protein shake as a meal right now after a full month of shakes :) I have tons left so I hope I get back in the mood!

Oh, I know pre op what I had today would be a super light meal day.  LOL  A bad day pre op would be eating a whole box of cereal and a whole cookie and a bunch of other junk.  I don't feel great physically when I eat like this, though.

I bet you'll be able to find a way to use the protein shakes you have left.  Have you seen the shake recipes on bariatricfoodie.com?  Including hot protein drinks?  She has recipes on there for stuff that looks like something you'd pay $6 for at Starbucks.

I bought her book and I love it! But after a month of shakes when faced with the choice between a shake and a packet of tuna, tuna just sounds more appealing. I love savory stuff. But I have enough shake mix and PB2 and sugar free syrups to last a lifetime! Lol

I am 2 years out and made my goal the first year. I struggle every day. Today for breakfast I have Unjury shake, lunch was meat sauce and less than a 1/4 cup of pasta. Drinking decaf coffee with skim milk at the moment. Dinner will be a shake and maybe a spoon of peanut butter for a night time snack.

Yes, it was very good, and I am keeping the recipe for the future. Hubby said it was my best chicken! And kids gobbled it up and no complaints about Dijon ....kids don't like mustard lol
